The Mitutoyo outside micrometers series 103 features either a ratchet stop or friction thimble that applies constant measuring force on a workpiece for exact repetitive readings. Available in metric and inches. The Mitutoyo outside micrometer is ideal for measuring metal and non-metal workpieces. A ratchet-stop mechanism on the 103-219 provides uniform pressure on a workpiece for precise, repeatable measurements. The friction thimble models allow for constant-force measurement for single handed operation.
Mitutoyo Micrometer Features:

These mechanical outside micrometers are the standard/classic micrometer design for most high-precision outside dimension measurements when a higher resolution than a caliper is required.
Operators open the jaw with the thimble insert a workpiece between the measuring faces and close the jaws.
The main scale is then read and then added to the graduations on the vernier scale to provide the exact measurement.
They are commonly used to measure the outside dimensions of raw materials, whole workpieces, and features in production, QA, and inspection environments in both metalworking and other industrial applications.
